We come across a lot of bands and films and whatnot and would like to share them with you all. We’re not strict arbiters of Gothic Culture or anything like that, but having been in the scene for nearly 30 years, we know a thing or two, and the rest we can’t remember. This page is simply to capture things as they are presented to us. If you’d like your goth/industrial music, book, or fashion line reviewed here, please send a link to djrefugium at g mail. Dark gratitude!
THE MOON CHILD
El Nino De La Luna (1989) is a Spanish film starring Lisa Gerrard of Dead Can Dance, and with a soundtrack done by this incredible band. It’s about the only Lisa Gerrard movie in which she acts; she is much better known as a soundtrack composer. She plays Georgina, who is a member of a cult that is trying to breed a magical child by mating her with another cult member. However, there is already a moonchild in the form of David in the picture. David is a telekinetic, odd child who seems to know psychically what is happening with Georgina and the cult.
This movie shares some themes with the novel Moonchild, but is essentially different in plot and outcome. It is visually beautiful, filmed in Spain and Morocco. The limited edition currently available comes with a Moon tarot card and both DVD and BluRay disks. The music is, of course, soaring and epic with parts obviously sung by Gerrard.
