Major changes

Well, after four years plus, our venue is closing its doors. The last Ghost House at Oak Street Speakeasy will be this Wednesday, March 5th. We are diligently searching for a new venue and suggestions or offers are welcome. We have had many awesome times at the Oak Street and wish Mac the very best in searching for a new place to open. In the meantime, we are looking for a venue that can host us in April and May, both of which were already planned out, but for the moment are in limbo.

I am constantly amazed at how much support and love this community has given us, and never thought we would outlast not only a competing night, but also the bar that hosted us. It’s a bittersweet day in Ghostland. ❤ Refugium

Upcoming really damn cool events

GH dec 2013 product show poster

Ghost House December will feature dj echo, who is a Eugene native noted for his great selections of witchhouse & new goth. Refugium and John The Revelator will be spinning vinyl, requests welcome on the Facebook event page.

Even more exciting: on December 14th the Portland industrial band [product] will be playing a Saturday show with Ghost House and Rivethouse djs before and after. Come join us for a rare live show on a Saturday night! As always there is no cover at Oak Street but the performers won’t get paid much unless you donate at the door or drink a lot, your choice. Remember that Oak Street has good cheap food as well! We’ll start the music at 9 PM.

Four years… wicked!

gh nov 2013

I had no idea how big this thing would get. It’s remarkable. We are the little night that could…. could bring deathrock and goth and industrial to a town that didn’t have them before…. could entice people from 100 miles away to come dance with us…. could make connections with bands all across the northwest…. could be the first place that those folks who made it through high school and still love the aesthetic head for when they turn 21….

I am grateful for C. Bila’s willingness to help me out by being the lights/video guru that he is, and my best friend. [love you].

Very grateful for John The Revelator’s extensive knowledge and technical acumen, and the bitchin’ sets he plays. And Spidersound, who kinda fell into this but from whom you’ll be hearing more because we’ve adopted him.

So grateful to our guest DJs, especially Abulikah, Parabal, UNCRSD, Ghrimm, Ultrajet, Owen, Zahra, Ian…. all of you that have given us your time.

Especially grateful to the folks who keep coming and dancing! Amber, ParaDox, Paris, Hobby Knife, Star, Victor, An’gla, Sage, Sati  (the diehards) and MANY MANY MORE.

And the fantastic Oak Street crew, all of them have been great through the years. Mac, thank you for giving us a home.

DARK LOVE TO ALL OF YOU. And hope to see you Wednesday, November 6th.

❤ Refugium

Autumn, the most wonderful time of the year….

Many things are in the works. The next Ghost House, on October 2nd, will feature UNCRSD, who plays regularly at the Lovecraft in Portland. He will be spinning a mix of goth, industrial and witchhouse with an emphasis on new music. John The Revelator and Refugium will be on hand.

Here’s the Halloweek lineup:

Wednesday October 30th: 24 HOUR PARTY PEOPLE PARTY kicks it off at Oak Street Speakeasy. John The Revelator, Jon Smith, and Refugium will be playing all Factory Records tracks [New Order + Joy Division + Happy Mondays + Durutti Column +++++] and generally invoking the spirit of Manchester here in Eugene.

Thursday October 31st: DARKHALLOW Masquerade Ball. DJs Refugium from Ghost House, Spidersound from Nemesis, and Parabal from Rivet House are combining forces to bring you an occult warehouse party. Location will be revealed to ticketholders and on the website the day before the party- but it is within Eugene city limits. Tickets are $5 in advance and $7 at the door. A full bar including absinthe service will be available (cash preferred, Visa/MC accepted). Lights and projections will be tailored to the event, which promises to be a fantastic way to spend this evening. Costumes are required, and prizes will be awarded for the best of the best. Rumor has it that there will be an after party as well. 21 and over, ID is REQUIRED.

Shortly after that, on November 6th at Oak Street Speakeasy, Ghost House celebrates its 4th anniversary! We are so grateful that we have been able to keep a G/I night going in this fair city for four years, and each month brings new pleasures. We thank you from the bottom of our dark little hearts. Much love to all of you who have supported us through the years. What will the fourth year bring? It’s so exciting to find out!
